You Could Tell It Was The First Ever...
My buddy and I attended Leafs Fan Fest on Friday night, and let me say this: As the title states, you could tell it was the first one! After being selected as an Early Bird Prize Winner, I wanted to look for where I could claim my prize. I had to ask two different staff before I was pointed in the right direction.
After locating our seats around 7, we noticed there were activities/events on the arena floor. When we asked a staffer how we could get down there, she didn't know, said speeches were starting soon, and she thought it was for season ticket holders only. Turns out, she was wrong, and we made it down to the arena floor no problem.
We then wanted to see the Leafs dressing room and were told that all of the tours were booked for the night. Very disappointing for long time Leafs fans! Only got to see the visitors room, and the 'entrance' to the Leafs room. Didn't know there was tours to book, assumed that paying good $ for tickets would enable us to see it all.
After the speeches, I asked yet another staffer if anything else was going on, and they said "I don't think so. I think it's a preview of what is going to happen on the weekend". No opportunity to meet the 4 players that were there? No autographs? No chance to meet Shanahan or Nonis??? Expected more for the $$$ my wife paid for the tickets.
If I go again next year, I'll be sure to go on the weekend, and hopefully since they have been through it before, staff will better know the event/it's happenings, etc.
